Have you spent a lot on your home, yet it's not giving a cosy vibe?
Is your space not looking pleasing inspite of fancy décor?
We are sharing with you some design tips and tricks to make minor changes in your home decor and give your space an elegant look.
1. Standard Light Fixtures

Have you picked up low-priced light fixtures from hawkers for your luxurious home? Has your builder provided low-end light fixtures for every room? These fixtures make your home look outdated and ordinary. Simply upgrading standard light fixtures will elevate your space. For instance, adding a modern chandelier of the right size above your dining table will complete the look of your room.
2. Cable Management

Is there a bunch of cable hanging from your TV unit or your computer desk? Your space will look disorganised and shoddy. Having all the cable run through a cord concealer pinned on the wall will not only hide multiple wires but will tidy up your space. You can get these concealers painted to match your wall colour. Hiding those cables behind a wall panel or wall trimmers for a seamless look is a good option too.
3. Too much IKEA furniture

Some of the IKEA products are amazing, but one mistake you can make is getting too many things from the same showroom. If you have picked up a sofa, a coffee table, a console, a dining table, a TV unit from the same store, your home is going to look like a showroom. You should try choosing not more than two furniture pieces from the same store and mix it with other furniture for your space to look captivating.
4. Matching Furniture Sets

The way to get a designer look to interiors is to mix furniture pieces and avoid matching furniture sets. Mix colour, texture, pattern and create a very diverse, unique, and structured look to your space. A lot of sectional sofas come with a matching ottoman. Bring in a different one with a new texture, colour, and style. It will make your space look engrossing with that one minor change.
5. Mass-Produced Wall Art

Sometimes the wall art may be the reason your space looks average. If you are picking the very typical art pieces from online stores that we have all seen, it is just instantly making your space look a little less high-end. We highly recommend staying away from mass-produced artwork. Home Center and FabIndia have some unique framed artwork. These pieces have beautiful fabric inside, beautiful print, beautiful photography. Those artwork are great to choose for an exquisite look.
6. Furniture Placement

Furniture placement in your room may make your home look less appealing. If the bed is pushed up against the wall in a corner of your bedroom, it will give the space a dorm-room vibe. If you centre your bed with two nightstands on either side, create symmetry, your space will look opulent. Wherever you can, bring your furniture off the walls, anchor them on a rug, create some flow around the space, and create a unique furniture layout. That will instantly upgrade the look of your space without spending anything at all.
7. Inaccurate Rug Size

Make sure to use the correct sized rug to anchor your furniture. Rugs that are too small, rugs that are too big, and rugs of the wrong size are going to make your space look deficient. Especially, if the rug is too small, just floating in the middle of your room and not anchoring anything. Rugs help create comfort and expand the look of the space when you anchor your furniture on top of it or at least it's front two legs.
8. Messy Entryway

Do you always have a messy, cluttered, open shoe rack near your entryway? This will give a chaotic vibe the moment anyone enters your home. Try to get closed storage like a bench with storage underneath. There are collapsible shoe cabinets available in the market that are super slim and don’t take up a lot of space. They are the best storage for a narrow entryway. Make sure there is sufficient light in this area.
9. Staged Accessories

Have you staged your coffee table or a side rack and packed it full of decor items that are not functional? It will give your space a disoriented look. All you need on a coffee table is a stack of books that your family is currently reading, a plant and simple decor items. The side rack can hold a beautiful framed mirror, your family picture, potted plants and a couple of candles.
