Has your home interiors met all your requirements?
"The home interiors did meet almost all of my requirements. The family is very happy with the outcome, especially my kids who just loved their rooms. Most importantly for me, it was done within my budget."
How often do you change your interiors?
"For us, the requirements do not change quickly as both my daughters are grown up now and all of us are light in handling the furniture. The current interior will take care of our needs for the next 6 to 8 years."
Did you hire the services of an architect or an interior designer?
"Yes, we had hired an architect as the design plan involved a lot of civil work to be carried out. Moreover, the architect has knowledge about interior designing too, therefore the entire project work was given to him."
What was the most challenging part?
"Although a proper design plan was suggested by the architect before the work could begin, it took a little longer time to complete the project. Few areas had to be redone a couple of times due to unavoidable circumstances."
How did you get information about the material that you could use?
"Since the contract was handled by an experienced architect, most of the material was procured with the information that was provided by him. One of my acquaintances who had carried out interior work recently also helped me out with the search."
Did you recycle or reuse your old furniture?
"I have always believed in making the most out of the waste. However, this time the material from waste was not in a good condition that would last for another 6 years, so we decided to go for everything new."
Which part of your house do you love the most?
"The final look of the entire home was the same as we had imagined. However, if I had to choose one particular room, then it would definitely be the Living Room. My family and friends find it rich, lavish, spacious, and beautiful, and I agree with them completely."
Has any part of your space turned out to be better than expected?
"Suchita wanted a very well organised and functional kitchen. We had therefore hired a specialist to design the modular kitchen concept and our emphasis was basically on these two areas. However, the final look and feel of the kitchen were extremely satisfying for both, Suchita and me."
Do you believe in blending style with sustainability?
"Yes, I believe in making the best out of waste and also in saving natural resources. We ensured proper light fittings were installed throughout the house, for minimum energy consumption."
How would you describe your overall experience of home renovation?
"Home renovation is a time and energy-consuming process. Interior designing is challenging and if you do not have a clear cut idea and a proper plan in your hand, then it can be money-consuming too. I usually like to work out the way with my instincts and the result is always rewarding and satisfying."
Would you like to share a design tip with our readers that have helped you?
"I have a medium-sized apartment and the bedrooms were less spacious. Therefore we worked out a design plan giving special attention to increasing the room size with the furniture planned."
"With the help of the architect, we figured out that some extra space can be made available if we knock off the common wall between two rooms, create a partition, and use this space for installing furniture on either side of the rooms. By doing this, you can slightly increase the circulation area within the rooms."
What are your unmet needs in this sector?
"Proper budgeting, a quotation with the right time frame for completion of the work and getting the right person to do the right job, is still challenging in this sector."
